We are so excited to launch a new competition - Phoenix by ADF.  This new competition will take place on April 23-25 at the Hurstville Entertainment Centre

The competition is open to Soloists (8 and above) and we will also have ONE TROUPE DIVISION which will be Open Age & Open Style.

INFORMATION FOR SOLOISTS

  • Soloists for each section will be awarded: The Wow Factor Award; The Master Technician Award; The Mesmerizing Energy Award (all winners will receive a Trophy)  

  • Soloists will have the opportunity to win scholarships to the Australian Dance Festival in September and a "Wild Card" entry into the Dance Around The World Solo Competition i.e.  A GUARANTEED SPOT TO DANCE ON THE ICONIC ADF STAGE,

  • Marko Panzic will also be scouting for talent for his Dream Creative Program

  • Our panel of judges will feature many of our ADF instructors - Australia's best dance professionals who are passionate about maximizing your learning opportunities and providing  you with great feedback so that you can improve

  • Voice Critiques and Video files will be provided to all competitors on the same day as the competition

  • Please note that due to uncertainty of Covid-19 restrictions, we will not be selling spectator tickets until closer to the date.  The cost of spectator tickets will be $10 per section.

INFORMATION FOR TROUPES

In true ADF fashion, our competition will have the following features:

  • Troupes will not be judged on 1st, 2nd, or 3rd, but prizes will awarded for:  Best Choreography, Most Entertaining & Most Technically Excellent

  • The Troupes competition will be held on Saturday 24th September from 11.30am - 1.30pm in the Marana Theatre of the Hurstville Entertainment Centre

  • It is Open Age and Open Styles

  • Troupes can have 8 - 40 performers on stage

  • Each performer will pay $30 which includes 2 x spectator tickets to the competition

  • If a performer is also in a solo, the $30 fee is waived

  • Judges will also be looking to enter 2-3 Wild Card entries into the Finals of Australia's Best Dance Crew (ABDC) where troupes will have a 1 in 3 chance of winning $2,000 in Prize Money!

  • These wild card entries will compete against the 2019 Winners of ABDC, and 3 Finalists chosen from the 2021 semi-finals held on Friday 24th September. 

  • As a Wild Card Entry, your troupe members will not have to pay for the $250 p/person entry fee (i.e. the weekend pass to the Australian Dance Festival.  This fee will be optional for your troupe members, i.e. they can choose not to attend the workshops and shows, and come only to compete on Sunday 27th September)

  • Note that entries to ABDC have now closed and this is the ONLY way in which you can enter ABDC at the 2021 Australian Dance Festival.

RESULTS

A Big Thank You to all the dancers and their supporters who came to the competition. 
The talent was outstanding and the vibe was so friendly and supportive. 

It was wonderful to see dancers back on stage, and audiences cheering them on.
Our judges were also incredible and we can't thank them enough for their critiques which were full of points of praise as well as points for improvement. 

Special Thanks also to our Brilliant MC - Chantal Fleming who kept the crowd happy with her DJing!
The CARE FACTOR that everyone had for dancers and each other truly made this competition very special.
