Phoenix by ADF is back for 2024!

If you love the Australian Dance Festival (ADF) and can't wait until September, then make sure you mark these dates in your diary! Friday 19th July - Sunday 21st July (the last weekend of the school holidays).

We're taking things up a notch and moving the party to the Governors Centre in Moore Park, right by the Entertainment Quarter! Get ready to shine on a world-class stage that's gonna make you feel like a total rockstar!

Schedule For Phoenix by ADF, Workshops & NEXT Choreographer

Day 1: Friday, July 19th

Phoenix by ADF Solo competitions for dancers aged 11-12 and 15+
9am - 1:30pm: 11-12yr Solos (Approx Time)

2pm - 6:15pm: 15/o Solos (Approx Time)

 Workshops with Marko Panzic & Soraya Zapata.  $40 for 2 hours, includes entry as a spectator to the Competition.
11am - 1pm: Senior (13 years +)
2.30pm - 4.30pm: Juniors (12 years * Under)

Doors Open @ 7.15pm for Australia's NEXT Choreographer Preliminaries
Shows: 7.30pm - 9.30pm:   - We are looking for 20 choreographers to showcase their talents on the stage at The Governors Centre. Two choreographers will be chosen to compete in Austraila’s NEXT Choreographer on Saturday 20th September on the iconic ADF stage.  Tickets to Australia's  NEXT Choreographer Preliminaries are separate to the free spectator entry for Phoenix by ADF.  Cost is $39 and can be purchased here

 

Day 2: Saturday, July 20th

Phoenix by ADF Solo competitions for dancers aged 6-8 and 13-14
9:30am - 1pm: 6-8yr Solos (Approx Time)

1:30pm - 6pm: 13-14yr Solos (Approx Time)

Day 3: Sunday, July 21st

Phoenix by ADF Solo Competitions for dancers aged 9-10

9:30am - 2pm: 9-10yr Solos (Approx Time)
 

Phoenix by ADF Troupe Competitions
2:30pm - 5:15pm: 12/u Troupes (Approx Time)
5:30pm - 8pm: Open Age Troupes (Approx Time)

This competition aims to foster community engagement, highlight exceptional talent, and offer a supportive environment for emerging artists to shine.

  • Forget the pressure cooker vibes! At Phoenix by ADF, it's all about celebrating your uniqueness and passion for dance.

  • We're awarding prizes for:
    - Wow Factor ($100 ADF Voucher + Medal + Sash)
    - Mesmerizing Energy, and (Energetiks $100 Voucher + Medal + Sash)
    - Amazing Technique ($100 Dream Dance Co Voucher + Medal + Sash)

  • One Lucky 14 & over soloist will also be chosen to be a Wild Card Entry to the Finals of the Dance Around The World Solo Competition at ADF on Sunday 22nd September.  That's a free weekend pass to the ADF as well as the DATW Solo Entry fee valued at $390!

  • Your judges Marko Panzic, Katie Sanchez & Kieran Kulik will provide insightful critiques that balance constructive advice with encouragement. Plus, with our innovative Video Critique feature, you can watch yourself while receiving expert guidance - an invaluable tool for honing your skills and unleashing your full potential!

  • Plus, every competitor gets a special Phoenix memento to take home – a symbol of your dance journey and the power to rise again no matter what!

  • Competitor Entry Fee: $40, includes special gift + Free spectator entry for as many of your supporters as you want

  • Per Solo Fee: $60

  • Age Cut Off: 1 Jan

  • A unique troupe competition where there is no 1st, 2nd, 3rd awarded, instead we provide a platform to showcase your studio and compete for titles.

  • Troupe Awards: Best Choreography, Most Entertaining, Most Technically Excellent

  • Troupe Prizes: Trophies + One troupe will be given a Wild Card Entry to Australia’s Best Dance Crew at ADF in September, and go straight to the finals on Sunday night.

  • Troupe Fee: $70 per routine

  • Competitor Entry Fee: Once off $40 Fee (not applicable if you have dancers already competing in our solos).  Troupe competitors will also receive a special Phoenix momento and Free spectator entry for multiple family members and friends.

  • 1 x Video Critique + 1 x Voice Critique will be delivered via MyCompHQ, 30 mins after your performance

  • Age Cut Off: 1 Jan
